Boutique Hotel Feature: The Commons Hotel in Minneapolis

Business Travel

Located near the University of Minnesota, The Commons Hotel offers travelers amazing amenities, unique character and easy access to the light rail.

I recently traveled to Minneapolis, MN for a business trip and stayed at The Commons Hotel… I couldn’t have chosen a better hotel. While I’ve never considered Minneapolis as a getaway location, the city and The Common Hotel have me thinking about a Minneapolis summer getaway (Minneapolis’ summer high is 85 degrees)!

From the moment I walked into the lobby, I was blown away. The hotel has a chic-geek vibe that overflows with character. From the vintage look of the brick building to the library-esque lounge areas with modern design elements, this boutique hotel offers a travelers a fun environment to lounge, work, dine and relax.

If you are traveling for business, I highly recommend you add the Club Alchemy package to your stay. As you can see from the photo above, one of Club Alchemy’s perks is a welcome bag that includes snacks, a water and a $5 credit to the hotel’s restaurant, the Beacon Public House. The Alchemy club also grants you access to the University’s Wellness Center, a parking upgrade and an upgrade to the next room type for only $25 per night! I stayed in the Superior Guest Room which had a wonderful sitting area and desk to work.

If you like to stay fit while you travel, access to the wellness center through Club Alchemy is amazing! This four level facility offers everything from cardio equipment, weight-lifting equipment, an indoor track, an indoor swimming pool to an indoor rock climbing wall.

The Beacon Public House is a farm to fresh restaurant located inside The Commons Hotel – it is great for dining and cocktails. When I arrived, I used my $5 chip toward a craft cocktail and had breakfast there the next morning. I highly recommend the Salmon Mimosa for breakfast… it was delicious!

In addition to having everything you need to never leave the hotel, the light rail station is right across the street if you need to get downtown or want to explore. As I mentioned earlier, I’ve never considered Minneapolis a getaway destination but its actually a great place to getaway from the Arizona heat this summer! There are lots of things to do and lots of activity near the university and downtown. Whether you plan a Minneapolis getaway or need a place to stay when traveling to Minneapolis for business, you can’t go wrong with The Commons Hotel!
